Discovering the history of the spoon in Korea, which contains praying for fertility. Constantly there have been various designs of the spoon including an ancient symbol of abundance, connubial bliss, which is also related to sex in a sense of productivity. Then what is the spoon today? What are we putting into our mouths every day? What kind of design do we need? Referring to the spoons from the past, the project talks about how I relate to the object in contemporary daily life with personal memo.

Artist Biography

Eleri is born and raised in Korea, an analyzer who compiles history and the presence together. Most of my projects are based on narratives and take shape of multi-media. Coming from the other side of the earth, I constantly observe the world as an outsider, which makes me to objectify the current surroundings and to recognize my roots. Relating myself to unfamiliar components of the society, I’m in progress of discovering the origins of stories spoken by each objects.
