Miss Pisces is a short film that challenges the male gaze through a femme, horoscopic lens. Featuring a Pisces-born muse, Pheroza (an Iranian/Indian/Australian non-binary sex-worker and model), the audience witnesses a suspenseful interaction between a fish shop sales assistant and an obtrusive customer. The writer and director, Gianna Mazzeo, takes viewers to a surreal realm that operates somewhere between reality and a dream. The film celebrates absurdity, surrealism and grotesqueness, revealing beauty in spaces often overlooked. Miss Pisces (2018) is one of twelve films from a Melbourne-based film series called âCalendar Girlsâ commissioned by Amy Dellar.
